Before, during and after your scan
All DEXA scan services are delivered by our partner laboratory, situated within the same building as our health screening centre. A DEXA scan typically takes 10 to 15 minutes and needs virtually no preparation. Here’s what to know at each stage.
Before
- Female patients should inform the staff if they are pregnant or suspect they might be.
During
- You will lie on an examination couch, and a mechanical arm will pass over your body during the scan.
- You will not feel anything during the scan, and the radiation exposure is very low.
After
- You may resume normal activities.
